If you have a child ready for our pre-school and kindergarten program, please contact Religious School Director Norma James.

April 6th Confirmation Class travels to HUC: The 10th grade class will travel to Cincinnati to attend Shabbat at Hebrew Union College on Saturday followed by a Cincinnati Reds game. On Sunday they will tour the Contemporary Arts Center for the Daniel Libeskin exhibit. This trip is made possible to a great extent by a generous donation from Temple Beth El Endowed Funds. The students greatly appreciate this donation. We also appreciate Susan Derrington, who is heading up the event.

Modern Hebrew for 8th, 9th, & 10th Grades. We have started our Conversational Hebrew class taught by an Israeli, Moti Benami. The students will be learning to read and understand a special Easy Israeli Newspaper. This is just one of the skills Moti has planned.

The Preschool, Kindergarten, & First Grade Will Conduct Services April 11th at 7:30. Do not miss a very special Shabbat at Temple Beth El. Our youngest students will conduct a very precious service. Of course they will have the guidance and training of their wonderful teachers Rachel Bluerze and Christina Karni and their Hebrew teachers Alex Khaddouma and Tory Frankel. Please come and support these wonderful children. The parents of the these grades will host the oneg.

April 13th Religious School Seder: This will be a very special year for our Religious School seder. Our Confirmation class from last year worked with a professional artist in Atlanta and created artwork for our own RS Haggadah. Next they collaborated with our own Sandy Parsons who has written her own haggadah. The final product is a beautiful Haggadah which will be used for the first time at our RS seder. Last year we delighted in an all chocolate seder. This year we will return to our more traditional foods but with a very special Haggadah. We invite parents to join your child for our seder. We need every parent of a RS school student to volunteer to provide some for our seder. I will send out an email so that you can sign up for items like boiled eggs, horoseth, parsely, matzah, etc. We also MUST have lots of parents help to set up, serve, and clean up. Please email Norma if you can help out.

April 26th Join our Family Worship Group for Havdallah, dinner, and a movie to close Passover! We have had a great time at our Family services this year, but this one will really be special. We will hold a very short Havdallah service followed by PIZZA, the kind that is NOT made with matzah! Then we ask everyone to stay with us for popcorn and a movie. Although we have aimed our services for 3rd grade and younger, this night will be fun for older students as well.

April 27th Come visit the Temple Beth El Second Annual Living Museum: Our first year of using the ISJL Curriculum has been a very positive experience. The more the students can be active learners, the more meaning they can derive from their Jewish education. As part of their final "exam" of sorts, each class will prepare a display, presentation, or exhibition of some type that demonstrates what they have learned this year. They are already hard at work in preparation. We want all of our parents and congregation to come to our Living Museum in the social hall at 11:00. It will be followed by a pizza luncheon. Do you have a love of Judaism and a love of young people? Perhaps you need to consider becoming a teacher or an aide in our religious school. As I plan for next year, I am always interested in speaking to prospective teachers. I am especially looking for someone to work with our 10th graders who can teach Word religions, coordinate church visits, and work with the Rabbi who will be teaching these students Confirmation class. Please call or email Norma if you think you might be interested. We have wonderful students who need your talents.
